Field Suitcase Class


The Sooner Time Collectors will be holding a two weekend, four day, hands-on basic workshop (May 23,24,30 & 31) , for the novice clock collector or clocksmith.  The class will cover movement inspection; tear down, cleaning, repair, re-assembly, oiling and setting in beat.  Each student will work on an 8-day American movement.  The workshop location will be near NW 10th and Penn. Class size is limited, so sign up early.

Tuition is $125 for NAWCC members, and $210 for non-members (NAWCC membership is included). It is not necessary to be a Sooner Time Collectors member and we hope to draw from other chapters in nearby cities.

There are only 14 slots available and expect to fill all.


Tool List-

1.   Bench lamp: student’s choice.

2.   Box to hold movement and parts: Plastic shoebox with cover or cigar box.

3.   Extension with 12-foot cord for lamp

4.   Eye loupe or optical hood, 2x to 5x power.  Optivisor is a good brand.

5.   Movement holder (hanging assembly/post kit).

6.   Paper towels (roll).

7.   Pivot locator: small type with hook on end(s)

8.   Pliers, small set: flat-smooth nose, long nose and diagonal cutters. (Good to buy quality here)

9.   Safety glasses

10. Screwdrivers: 4-6” long, with approximate blade widths of 3/32”,1/8” & ¼”.

11. Stand appropriate for testing the clock being repaired (can be home made, student’s choice).


12.  Chairs will be provided but you might want to consider bringing a more comfortable chair.
